Thank you very much for sharing this vid. I'm German and this "killer-arie" is one of my favorit. It's even much more difficult to sing for a non speaking German tenor beware of that... singing is much more then the right pronounciation... I appreciate every minute. Beside the singing, the body language and face expressions are great! Love it. A great wonderful Tenor! Greetings to New Zealand🥰

Tenore Simone, under normal circumstances we of the Loggione do not appreciate performances of versimo arias in baroque pitch. But that was bloody entertaining. Bravo!

Absolutely incredible voice and the story I have heard Simon O 'Neill rehearsing while walking along the Queen Str. in Auckland ! It was my first day in Auckland 20 years ago and I could not believe that in this "wilderness" just an ordinary guy with a little backpack would walk and sing so highly professionally Wagner's opera part .. I have not approached to praize or express admiration , because I thought - it was a joke (a tape recorder in his bag )..or similar ...But still I was following him like hypnotized .voice was superb ..Soon he will be in Auckland with his concert - I am eager to go, and if a chance to have a word ( a recollection regarding how he nearly left me 'coo-coo' with his exquisite opera singing while walking ..)

Absolutely fantastic .. When I have arrived to Auckland ,NZ in 1998 , I have had a chance to hear him singing /rehearsing just walking along Queen Street.. I I didn't believe my years , how come ...in the end of the world ... a young man with a small backpack is singing on the level of La Scala .. It was my first day after a long trip from Europe .. I thought .. no ..may be this young man just had a tape recorder in his bag ..pretending he is singing .. but it was so BEAUTIFUL .. I just was following him as far as I could .. I was shy/confused to talk to him, that is one of my 3 similar regrets in life .. I should express my admiration .Later on I knew that it Simon O'Neil.. he used to rehearse anywhere .. Lucky me . I wish him the best , great talent .

Now, that's what I call a decent heldentenor voice! Metal, and effortless power up to the highest notes, even if they're repeated so many times as in this breakneck aria. A bit of wobbling in the vibrato, a bit of tremolo. But all in all a very ringing voice that cuts through anything.

I had the privilege of singing with this fine tenor years ago when he was just starting out in NYC. He had to hold back to sing a Handel duet with me - a lot! I knew he would make it big. Funny and nice as well!

Now they need an understudy for him.... Sorry, but I only know the role of Cavaradossi of his upcoming program on operabase.com. Nice to follow his story and see where he is today.
